Earth, sky, worlds above, quarters and their halves;
Fire, air, sun, moon, and stars; water, herbs, trees,
Space, and entity are elements.
Eye, ear, mind, tongue, and touch; skin, flesh, muscle,
Marrow, and skeleton; and the five
Vital forces constitute the body.
The sage, contemplating these sets of five,
Discovered that everything is holy.
--Taittreya Upanishad

Friends in Boston report that they awoke today to a beautiful cool rainy morning. April showers had come to wash the streets clean, to refresh weary souls, to restore life to a city that has been frozen in the grip of terror this past week. This coming Monday is Earth Day. We have been celebrating the return of life and light throughout these past weeks. Earth Day takes us one step further, providing us a time to honor the earth that gives us life and sustains us. Let's take some time this week to sense our profound connection to the earth and all it provides, to draw strength and sustenance from that connection, and to pray that Mother Earth's healing waters wash gently over all those affected by this past week's events.
Come to sadhana tomorrow evening for a community celebration of Earth Day.
